In a world of “life hacks” and “hot takes”, sometimes just good coaching and practical advice wins. We are over the moon that Lauren Walker of National Cathedral School won both U21 2k and 20 minute races at Erg Sprints. She is an incredible athlete and competitor and showed both her rowing skill and ability to apply great coaching in creative ways. Spid Werkz Board Member and Secretary Judith Vogel helped her with some advice to use a dodgeball between the knees to help build stability with the hips and inner thighs. Lo and behold, Lauren used this during the race and came away with the victory. Will we see this being employed by more racers next year? Maybe. Are we stoked that she was able to partner with Judith for the win? Absolutely.
